Cosmetic acupuncture (also known as facial rejuvenation acupuncture,) reduces premature aging naturally without surgical interference and with little pain or side effects. By inserting incredibly fine, disposable sterilized needles into specific points on the face, skin is stimulated creating a healing response from the body including the production of collagen.

As we age, collagen in the skin naturally declines causing sagging, dullness and deepening of fine lines and wrinkles. By stimulating the production of collagen we can improve the structure and elasticity of the skin, plump up fine lines, and give the skin a healthy glow.

Every session begins with a discussion about lifestyle: sleep and stress, emotions and energy - looking at the internal issues that may be manifesting externally. All cosmetic acupuncture treatments have a holistic approach with additional acupuncture points along the body to address and target the root causes of imbalances.

During pregnancy Chinese herbs can help reduce nausea/vomiting, reduce swelling, alleviate constipation and more. During postpartum, Chinese herbs can help overall postpartum recovery by facilitate healing, repleting the body, alleviating stress and reducing fatigue. Herbs taken postpartum can also improve lactation in nursing mamas.

As part of the diagnostic process, the TCM practitioner will review your overall health and also look at your tongue and check your pulse in order to identify any imbalances in your body that could be affecting your health. The TCM practitioner will then develop a treatment plan that includes an herbal medicine prescription that is customized and created specifically for you. Most Chinese herbs are taken in powder form mixed with hot water like instant coffee.

Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle form of bodywork used to release tension within your body.

Muscle and tissue tensions can start from the position of a baby within the womb, during the birthing process or after birth. This tension can cause a baby to experience a shallow latch, head preferring to turn to one side, breast preference while feeding, back arching, trouble burping and/or passing gas, among others.

Benefits may include easier weight gain, elimination of reflux symptoms, longer stretches of sleep, less fussiness at the breast, an easier time passing gas, ability to turn their head both ways, a better outcome after a tongue-tie release and better feedings (breast, bottle or solids).

Since the techniques are so incredibly gentle, they are safe for infants to receive!

The lymphatic drainage massages at Yoga Mamas can be enjoyed to optimize health in general, however we bring a specialized focus in the areas of pregnancy and postpartum. In pregnancy and postpartum, fluid retention can cause swollen legs, ankles, feet, face, and hands. Edema can cause the skin to feel tight and the joints to feel stiff, as well as putting pressure on nerves resulting in carpal tunnel syndrome. In the summer, many people in general tend to retain more water and experience swelling, tightness in the skin and stiffness and discomfort in the joints. LDM uses soft massage techniques to move fluid from the tissues to the lymph nodes, which eases swelling and relieves discomfort, all while providing a relaxing treatment. All treatments are 60 mins and are performed by experienced Registered Massage Therapist, Elizabeth Stewart.

My name is Janet and I’m a mom of two incredible girls (Neva, and Loie) who were born 10 years apart. Raising two truly unique humans together with my partner is clearly exactly where I am supposed to be in life and these years have taught me so much. I am absolutely still learning along the way. I first came to Yoga Mamas as a client. My daughter was 6 years old at the time, so I didn’t exactly fit the demographic-or at least that’s what I thought. There were two things I’ll never forget about my initial visit to our studio. First was the space. As a person with a creative background and a degree in fine arts, I am so aware of the impact that space, order and light have that can really elevate your creative mind and unlock a sense of calm within. These were elements of the studio that I instantly appreciated. I felt like I could escape for a moment and was inspired by the layout and brightness of each room. Every item had its purposeful place. For a busy mom, this level of detail brought peace and clarity to a season in life that can be perfectly messy and unpredictable.

Looking back, what was most unforgettable was how I was made to feel when I walked in. I was warmly welcomed, given a tour, and guided to my class. I felt welcome, valued and included- like I belonged here. And these are feelings we need to experience now more than ever.

If you’re landing on our website for the first time you may be wondering: Which one of these services is for me? And when should I book them? My job is to help you navigate through our offerings, answer your questions, and walk alongside you as you experience the amazing benefits of each one with our team of caring professionals and it is truly my pleasure. I’ve been a yoga instructor for almost two decades, and I owe a lot to the benefits of my yoga practice. I can’t wait for you to experience the joy of community, wellness, and support that Yoga Mamas strives to bring to every mama in our neighbourhood and beyond. I can’t wait to meet you.

Her focus on the full gamut of pain management felt comforting but my favourite was her focus on the first 5 days postpartum because those get real…You’d be lucky to have Adrienne involved in any part of your pregnancy, birth, or postpartum experience.” -Simran D
